Pattern Review ~ Emmeline Apron

The Sew, Mama, Sew! Blog has a review of the Emmeline Apron pattern by Sew Liberated.  This is a well written review which includes modification tips, several photos, and over 40 user comments.  Here is an excerpt from the review:

Emmeline is a sweet reversible apron with a gathered bodice. Meg says: “The Emmeline Apron is the one you’ve been waiting for – modern, stylish, and fun to sew. You’ll never want to take it off!” And she’s so right! I made Emmeline as a gift, and it will be hard to part with. Fortunately, the sewing truly was fun and I can’t wait to make one for myself.

Charmingdesigns posted photos of an old vintage apron pattern which she is (or was) selling on ebay.

Summer strawberry apron

Louise, in her blog Sing Your Heart, writes a post about creating a strawberry themed apron based on the Sew Easy Reversible Apron patternfrom Indygo Junction.  Here is an excerpt about her experience:

That wool felt strawberry pocket was a last-minute addition that I think really made the whole thing. I used the star embroidery on my sewing machine to make the little black seeds on the fruit.

Secrets Unleashed

MJ’s Sputterings wrote a nice blog post about sewing Great American Aprons and Four Corners Apron, both patterns from Vanilla House Designs.  She has nice pictures of the aprons she made, and she tells about how easy they were to make. Here is an excerpt from her blog post:

As I had lamented in an earlier post about getting a vintage apron that was too short and small for me and considering aprons are all the rage currently, I decided to make her an apron. Gulp! I haven’t sewn an article of clothing since Grade 9!

Bon Appetit Apron

Bon Appetit Apron

Here is a fun apron from Indygo Junction.

Another in the Indygo Junction Bon Apetit apron pattern. Also – again, a Kaffe Fasset fabric. I lined the top with a deep green poplin which is a nice contrast to the front.

Sew Liberated

Sew Liberated is a small pattern company with apron, bag, and pillow patterns.  Meg, the designer, says this about her sewing line:

In the past year I’ve been so lucky to have found a niche as a designer, launching my sewing pattern line, Sew Liberated (recently renamed from Montessori by Hand) in August of 2007.

Meg also has a blog and posts many pictures on flickr.

Apron and Pot holder

This is a photo of a finished apron and pot holder. “Clicky the Moose” apparently made this apron for a “fall sassy apron swap”. What a great idea! Make a pot holder or oven mitt to match your apron!

This is the apron and pot holder I made for my partner in the Fall session of the Sassy Apron Swap. My partner didn’t want a holiday specific apron, so I thought the red and cream paisley would be nice. The pot holder is made from the same fabrics and I “quilted” around the paisley pattern to give it some texture and sturdiness.
